About enviolo

enviolo is “The Moving Standard” for bicycles and e-bikes today.

With our stepless and automatic shifting products incorporating the revolutionary NuVinci® technology, we elevate your riding experience and make it simpler, more fun, safer, and healthier.

Riding a bike with enviolo’s stepless or automatic shifting solution means concentrating less on changing gears and more on what’s important, for example: traffic, road hazards, passengers, or enjoying the beauty of your surroundings.

enviolo’s stepless and automatic shifting benefits are now available in five different group sets. All group sets consist of a NuVinci Optimized™ transmission and controller, specifically designed for their use cases: city, trekking, sportive, cargo, and commercial.

During the design process of these new components, we focused on the unique needs of the five different rider personas and the type of bicycles they ride. This mission to deliver the best possible shifting solution for each rider enables us to be “The Moving Standard.”

enviolo is a division of Fallbrook Technologies Inc. and has been operating under the name “NuVinci Cycling” up until December 2017. The enviolo head office is located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Technology

The Unique Technology

enviolo’s transmissions feature the unique NuVinci technology: Rotating planets, over their ratio range, permit an infinite number of ratios between incoming power (from the chain through pedaling) and outgoing power (via the hub flanges to the wheel).

A manual or automatic controller tilts the planets on their horizontal axes, causing the transmission ratio to change, and lets you apply pressure to the pedals accordingly. As a result, maintenance to fix malfunctioning gears is now a thing of the past.

With a NuVinci Optimized transmission from enviolo, you will progress effortlessly and steplessly from one ratio to the next, making pedaling a breeze!

All enviolo products consist of a NuVinci Optimized transmission and a controller. Specifications differ depending on the bike model.

History

The History

The first commercial product incorporating NuVinci technology was the N170™ continuously variable planetary transmission for bicycles introduced in December 2006, followed by the lighter weight and smaller N360™ model in 2010, and the Harmony™ auto-shifting system for bicycles (incorporating the N360) in 2011. Current NuVinci Optimized cycling products include the Nfinity™ and Harmony group sets, which comprise newer versions of the transmissions and controllers. NuVinci Cycling products are available in over 100 bicycle brands.
